In case you missed it in last week’s Sunday Times there was a piece quoting a research project looking at slimming supplements.
Subjects were given either a placebo or a slimming supplement and the results checked. In all cases there were no clinically significant differences in weight loss between the placebo and the supplement groups.
Who’d have thought eh? 😉
So, if you’re eyeing up a bottle of “skinny gummies” or similar thinking it could be the answer, the science says you’re wrong.
We always say health is a lifestyle not a quick fix. We’re conditioned by our media, culture and society to want that quick fix – diets claim to work faster and faster and drop even more weight off in order to sell.
Here’s the truth: yes you can lose a lot of weight very fast if you want to, but unless you were morbidly obese to start with it’s not going to be good for you.
We’ve never gone for the quick fix approach, instead we educate and empower our clients with the knowledge and tools to gradually lose the body fat, add muscle (so it’s not about bodyweight at all, but body composition) AND most importantly, know how to sustain it easily for life WITHOUT making big sacrifices on the things we all love to to eat and drink.
