Why Am I Stuck?
We hear this a lot when we’re talking to prospective clients. They’ve just plateaued and what was working isn’t any more.
There’s a few reasons for this, the first one is easy to fix.
To get results we want to make sure our training is progressive. That means pushing that bit harder on your cardio, and with weights, ensuring you’re either increasing the weight you’re lifting, the reps, or the sets, or all three.
All too often someone will begin a programme with their 3 sets of 10 reps at 20kg, and weeks later that’s what they’re still doing. Look to make incremental increases in reps and or weight each week.
The other thing that happens is that our body adapts to what we’re doing. So the workout that was gruelling when you started it, begins to feel easier, the muscles stop responding as well….
Time to change it up. I like to refresh a routine every 6 to 10 weeks to keep my body adapting to new stimulus.
That’s the easy bit.
For mid lifers we’ve got a whole load of hormonal and physiological changes that are impacting our progress and goals.
It’s key we understand what’s going on with the body and work in harmony with it, rather than against it.
Simply put the training that got you results in your 20s and 30s isn’t going to work in your 40s and 50s, you need something else.
This is how we get such great results for our clients time and time again. How we help them drop the belly fat (and keep it off), feel energised and in control, all without making big sacrifices.
If you’d like to know more about how it could work for you check out our podcasts, watch out for our free workshops, or join our programme.
Guys, if some of this resonated I’m running a workshop on the andropause this Thursday at 12:30pm – it’s 30 minutes with time for questions at the end, sign up below.
