Self care is a phrase that’s REALLY over used and highly misunderstood.
It goes beyond bubble baths, reading a good book with a cuppa, massages and chocolate cake.
Self care is often about doing the boring stuff.
The ugly stuff.
The stuff you don’t want to do…
I believe true self care looks like:
Not having the third glass of wine
Setting boundaries with a friend
Prepping lunches on a Sunday
Setting the alarm earlier to move your body
Investing in a coach instead of a new iPhone
…and disappointing people
Self care isn’t something you set aside time for every once in a while.
It’s about taking responsibility for your wellness – mentally, physically and emotionally.
It’s about acknowledging that your needs and your dreams are as important as everyone else’s.
It’s being honest about who you are and what you stand for, regardless of what others think.
True self care isn’t about sticky plasters.
It’s to love your broken pieces and heal them, so you don’t have to escape with scented candles, alcohol and fast food.
