Are You Ready To Challenge Your Thought Loop?
Research suggests that we have around 60000 to 80000 thoughts a day, which is a lot of thoughts, however 90% of those thoughts (or higher) are the same as the day before.
That thing you were worrying about yesterday…. still worrying about it today?
You see it’s easy to get caught in the thought loop and never really question it.
We tend to regard are thoughts as “real” rather than constructs that we can manipulate.
But why would we want to manipulate our thought loop?
Well around 85% of our thoughts are negative…
No wonder we can feel anxious, overwhelmed, burnt out…
The thing is we have the power to take control of our thought loop and shift our thoughts so that they’re supporting our goals.
Here’s how:
The first step is to be aware of your thoughts – step back and observe them.
Next challenge them, ask “is it really true?” and provide evidence from your experience that refutes the negative thought.
Finally decide what a more helpful thought would be and elect to follow that thought rather than the negative one.
Remind yourself of who you want to be and/or what the outcome you desire is and focus on that.
This stuff takes practice, but the cost of staying stuck in your negative loop far outweighs the cost of practice.
What thought can you challenge today?
