How Do You Live Your Life?

Someone told me the other day that they found our podcast really inspiring, but they had a question, which was…

“Do you and Claire really live your lives like that?”

What a great question!

Well the answer is that we try to. We’re always going to be honest and part of this work is admitting that sometimes you find the work hard.

We aim to live this way, but of course there are times when we’re distracted, when we’re stressed, when life gets in the way, that we fail to practice the optimal approach that we know we should.

You see our subconscious will always try to pull us back to the safety of the “familiar” which often isn’t the best for our goals or growth, but knowing that gives you the edge.

So it’s okay to not get it right, IF…

You learn the lesson from it.

And that lesson is being open to being aware that you didn’t get it right this time.

Be open to catching yourself and thinking, “could I have approached that differently”.

Be open to feedback from your partner without taking offence.
Be prepared to see it as a learning experience.

You see it’s not getting it right all the time that matters so much as getting it right most of the time, AND knowing when you got it wrong and being prepared to own that and do something about it.

I guess it comes down to five things:

– Awareness – of your own behaviour and being willing to look at it through an objective lens

– Your ability to take responsibility for that behaviour – and course correct

– Your ability to take on board feedback without involving your ego

– Compassion – for yourself that you’re still mastering these things

– Commitment – to actually wanting to make the changes because you want to be a better version of yourself

Honestly, when you do this you’ll find that life becomes much easier and free flowing, whether that’s your key relationships, career, goals…

Just commit to being open to learning and to getting it right more than you get it wrong.
