Want more good stuff in your life?
Be more grateful.
It really is that simple.
Research shows that people who expect better outcomes in life actually experience them, the easiest way to tee yourself up to be in this positive mind state is to practice being grateful right now for what you have.
See often we’ll fall into the “gap” of telling ourselves we’ll be “happy” and for “happy” read “grateful” when…
When we achieve this thing, get that thing, become that person…
Not only are we delaying gratification but we’re programming our sub-conscious to be dissatisfied (“unhappy”) now, with our future state dependent upon some goal rather than being in that state now.
Think about it like this: if you already had what you wanted, who would you be? What would you do? How would you feel?
Then start being that now. You are creating your future state in the present and so programming your mind to think differently and move you more easily towards your goals AND a state of happiness now.
A really simple way to start cultivating more gratitude and reprogramming our mind for more gratitude and positivity is with a daily gratitude practice.
It’s how I start each day, and it works. Simply spend a few minutes reflecting on three things you’re grateful for from yesterday, three things you’re grateful for in general, and set an intention for the day.
Try it, give it time, and see what happens…
