I had an eye-opening experience recently that I can’t wait to share with you. It’s about the invaluable lessons I learned from finally taking a much-needed holiday with Claire after seven long years.
Believe me, it was long overdue, and I can’t stress enough how much it impacted our lives.
You see, even though our work allows us to be flexible and live in beautiful places, I had been fooling myself into thinking that was enough.
I believed that living in sunny destinations or running retreats at luxurious resorts was akin to a holiday. But let me tell you, my perspective completely shifted during this getaway.
A holiday is not just about the destination; it’s about the state of mind.
For the first time in what felt like forever, I was able to disconnect from work and truly immerse myself in the present moment.
There were no agendas, no tasks, no deadlines. It was a blissful escape from the constant doing and allowed me to reconnect with what it means to be a human being.
I experienced a newfound level of joy and gratitude in the simplest pleasures. Picture an early morning swim in the sea, followed by a leisurely breakfast. It was pure bliss.
I felt genuinely happy, deeply relaxed, and more connected than ever to myself and to Claire.
It reminded us of the importance of nurturing our personal connection, beyond being business partners.
Although six nights wasn’t nearly enough (is any holiday ever long enough?), it provided us with a profound gift.
We regained a sense of balance and clarity, understanding what truly matters in our business and in our lives.
It ignited a fire within us, fueling our mission to help other midlifers live their best lives.
Surprisingly, while we were away, our business actually thrived!
By letting go and trusting in the process, we discovered the power of rejuvenation. It breathed new life into our endeavors and infused us with a renewed sense of purpose.
Now we feel invigorated, excited about what lies ahead, and ready to make an even greater impact.
So here’s to what’s coming next and, of course, to our next holiday. We won’t make the mistake of waiting so long again!
Let this serve as a reminder that taking time for ourselves is not just a luxury—it’s a necessity for growth, happiness, and success.
If you’ve been neglecting your own well-being, I encourage you to make time for yourself. Whether it’s a weekend getaway, a day of indulgence, or a simple moment of self-care, prioritize your own rejuvenation. You deserve it, and your life will be all the better for it.
Cheers to the journey ahead!
