Hormones Aren’t Just A Female Issue

Hormones aren’t just a ‘women’s issue’—here’s how they’re sabotaging your energy, focus, and mood (without you realising).

Hormones aren’t just a ‘women’s issue’—here’s how they’re sabotaging your energy, focus, and mood (without you realising).

Gentlemen, let’s talk about the elephant in the room: your hormones are running the show.

And no, this isn’t about “manning up” or “pushing through.” This is biology.

Here’s what most men don’t know:

Note – HR Leaders – you should also be paying attention to this, because a proportion of your workforce will be affected yet the chances are you have nothing in place currently to support those people.

1. Your Testosterone Dictates Your Brain Power

Research shows low testosterone shrinks your prefrontal cortex (the “CEO” of your brain)

Real-world impact: Forgetfulness, poor decisions, and that “fog” you blame on age.

2. Cortisol Is Stealing Your Muscle (And Your Sleep)

Chronic stress = high cortisol = testosterone drops

Vicious cycle: Less testosterone → more belly fat → more cortisol → worse sleep → repeat forever

3. Your Irritability Isn’t “Just Personality”

Hormone fluctuations rewire emotional control

Study: Multiple studies have shown that men with low T are more likely to develop depression

4. Your Libido Is a Health Barometer

Low sex drive? It’s rarely “just stress.” Often:

Low testosterone

High estrogen (yes, men have it too—and it spikes with body fat)

Thyroid dysfunction

5. Midlife “Plateau” Is Often Hormonal

Peak CEO age is 55—yet most men feel “past their prime” at 45. Why?

Andropause (male hormone drop) starts at 40-45

Unchecked, it kills motivation, risk-taking, and drive

The Good News?

This isn’t permanent. Hormones can be optimised.

When I noticed I was experiencing some symptoms I got myself tested and then by applying what I know I raised my total testosterone from a borderline low of 9.6 nmol/l up to 12.5, in around 3 months, then up to 16.5 in another 3 months.

And no it didn’t mean a “special” diet, extreme training, expensive supplements. So…

If you’ve been feeling:

☑️ “Not yourself” (but can’t explain why)

☑️ Stuck in a rut (despite “success”)

☑️ Tired of being tired

You’re not broken—you’re hormonally out of sync.

Next Steps:

  • Get tested (Free T, SHBG, cortisol, thyroid)
  • Strength train (Boosts T better than cardio)
  • Talk to me! (Drop me a DM)
  • HR Leaders – if you’re not currently running education, programmes or support around this then talk to me also!
