Often when we’re thinking about a goal we can get hung up on just how hard we think it will be, how we’ll need to maintain perfect motivation for a long period to get the results we’re looking for.
However when it comes to guys getting into shape in their 40s and 50s and reclaiming their confidence, this isn’t true…
I’m 49, I don’t train for long sessions, I eat what I fancy – and this is how I coach my clients.
Your goal is not as far away or as hard to achieve as you think- here’s how to hack it:
1) Get clear on your goal and have a plan to get there, and have that plan include the things you love and don’t want to give up entirely.
Example – If you love pizza every weekend there’s not point telling yourself you’ll do 90 days with no pizza – you’ll make yourself miserable and likely fail at your goal.
Newsflash, you can enjoy your pizza and hit your goal with the right plan and execution. Getting to your physical goal is simply going to take strength training (at home or in the gym) 3-4x/week, some short cardio and a nutrition plan designed to slash fat while still letting you enjoy the food you want to.
2) Less is more. Music to my clients’ ears. You don’t need to to do more than you need to do (in fact over training is going to take you further away from your goals).
So it’s short sessions 4/5 times a week NOT long hours of cardio and lifting daily… and you can still have a beer.
3) Working on your mindset makes it all easier and pays other huge dividends.
That’s why I leverage psychology, coaching and NLP to shift limiting beliefs, engineer behaviour change and build a success mindset – because is positively impacts everything!
Positive mind, strong body is like a magic formula for success in health, confidence, career, relationships…
