I had a great conversation with someone this morning about how important mindset work is on a health journey. The answer is… VERY.
We always say to our clients that it’s 80% psychology, 20% mechanics. Actually we’re not in the business of body transformation, but of mindset transformation.
Both Claire and I came to the physical world of personal training via a passion for working out, but also from backgrounds in psychology, coaching, NLP and stress management. It’s 100% the most important part of what we do.
We regularly get people asking us to “just” give them a training plan and/or meal plan. We always say no.
Why would we turn down business?
Because we’re about empowering people for lasting change, and a workout plan and an eating plan isn’t going to achieve that.
If you look in the mirror and you don’t like what you see, then changing your body might help for a short while – but what about the habits, beliefs and behaviours that led you to that place to start with? Will they lead you back.
If you’re lacking confidence and let your inner critic talk down to you, is that just because you don’t like the way you look, or is there more going on?
Right now I’m working on my Rise Midlife Man 90 Day programme and I am loving creating the tools for lasting change within it, just like we have with The Midlife Method.
You are capable of so much and you can improve you life in so many ways, you just need the tools to do it, and the accountability to put them into action consistently to engineer change.
So yes, we get great physical results for our clients, but that’s just the visible tip of the iceberg, the real magic is the huge mass of positive mindset and emotional changes underneath.
