We’ve done a ton of podcast interviews over the last week or so and we’re loving it! They inspire us by connecting us with fantastic hosts who ask searching questions, and make us think hard and even reconsider some things.
One recurring question is around the theme of what one thing would we advise clients to do.
Now, that’s a tough one, and I’d go so far as to say, rather than one thing, consider many small actions, because we need to address our movement, nutrition, mindset and emotional wellbeing as a whole (while being mindful of our midlife hormones) – so at the end of this I’ll give you four tips!
However, the one tip is to start with the mind, because this is where real lasting change will come from.
Success is 80% mindset and 20% mechanics. Listen, workouts and diets are a dime a dozen, and chances are you’ve tried several, and failed over the long term.
That’s because those solutions are only focussing on the external. For real change we need to focus on shifting our limiting beliefs to supporting beliefs and creating a new identity aligned with our goal.
Once we do that, eventing else becomes easy. A caveat, the work to do it is’t easy, which is why most people think they can get away with skipping it.
You can’t.
You think you need the secret to a new diet and/or workout, the one that’s really going to work for you this time…
What you actually need is behaviour change coaching.
That’s exactly what we do.
If you align your beliefs, habits and behaviours to a healthy outcome, it’s becomes easy to make healthy choices, because that’s who you now are.
Craving are less frequent, you know how to deal with them, movement is a pleasure because you love how it makes you feel. Your confidence soars…
So, the one thing you need to do is be honest with yourself, really honest. It may even be uncomfortable.
Sit down and make a list of the limiting beliefs that may hold you back. Then make a list of the new supporting beliefs your’d like.
Pick one limiting belief, find the closest new supporting belief to shift it to and get to work!
Our beliefs are not fixed. We can change them by affirming, taking consistent actions aligned with our new belief, literally stepping into who we want to become.
This is a major part of what we do (and why we’re so successful with our clients), and of course there’s a lot more detail to this and a lot more to it, this is just a snapshot.
Our latest podcast is on this, so if you want to take the first step go take a listen.
Now, I promised you four tips and you’ve had one.
The other are, start moving your body more, ideally adding some regular resistance training. Cut down sugar as much as you can (especially hidden sugars), and get some support – a buddy, a group aligned with your goals, a mentor or coach .
This stuff is tough on your own and so much easier with support, and guidance from experts can turbo charge your progress.
Think about what your life will be like when you’re backed by powerful beliefs about your own ability to succeed.
Why not take the first steps today, your future awaits…
